JOB SUMMARY
- Under the leadership of the medical director, the plastic surgeon focuses on the management of gender-affirming surgeries and provides care to patients of all ages who require reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. He or she also collaborates with other healthcare professionals in the provision of broad and comprehensive care to patients and their families. In addition, he or she may be called upon to participate in research activities in his or her specialty.
- The incumbent will join a team of 4 surgeons specialized in gender affirmation surgery and will benefit from a rich and varied medical-surgical activity (vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, mastectomy and metoidioplasty).
Duties:
- Meet with patients, take their history, and review their records to provide them with the best surgical options.
- Describe all risks and benefits associated with the surgery prior to the procedure.
- Prepare patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures.
- Prescribe medications such as analgesics, antibiotics and provide follow-up counselling to patients.
- Provide post-operative follow-up to patients.
- Schedule follow-ups to remove stitches, inspect incisions and monitor patient healing.
- Manage various administrative tasks such as updating patient records and clinic policies.

REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate from an accredited medical school and residency leading to a licence in plastic surgery
- Recognized certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in plastic surgery
- Eligibility for a practice permit issued by the Collège des médecins du Québec
- 3 to 5 years experience in plastic, reconstructive and esthetic surgery
- Experience in microsurgery
- Experience in gender affirming surgery is an asset (training is planned)
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Compliance with CMC confidentiality rules
- Professional ethics, interpersonal and human qualities strongly expected
- Knowledge of spoken and written English and French is required.
