Context

In a context of transformation and raising standards in surgical care, we are looking for an experienced, committed, and structured manager to take charge of the daily and operational management of the Laval operating room, which includes an operating room. Reporting to the Operating Room Management, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, clinical rigor, and inspiring leadership within the teams.

 

Main Responsibilities

Working closely with the Operating Room Management, you will be responsible for:

  • Being an expert leader in the field of operating rooms.
  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating, in collaboration with the department heads, the activities of the operating room, the URDM, the endoscopy clinic, the recovery room, and the preoperative department.
  • Providing direct supervision, coaching, and development of nursing and technical staff (nurses, respiratory therapists, PABs, retirees, and endoscopy staff).
  • Ensuring the Strict adherence to safety standards (CSA, PCI, ISO) and best practices in perioperative care.
  • Optimize the use of human, material, financial, and information resources within the allocated budget.
  • Effectively manage surgeon and anesthesiologist schedules, based on operating room capacity and performance objectives.
  • Identify strategies for continuous improvement of operational capacity and access to care.
  • Coordinate preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative activities in an integrated and transparent manner among all involved parties.
  • Oversee equipment and supply orders and inventories.
  • Support the deployment of new services, technologies, and surgical procedures.
  • Oversee legal and administrative compliance with internal and external requirements (proof of non-participation, documentation, audits, etc.). etc.).
  • Actively participate in the Accreditation Canada process and ensure the ongoing updating of protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide support for the implementation, use, and training of clinical systems and operational tools.
  • Maintain a valid database and up-to-date nursing license.

Requirements

  • College or university diploma in nursing.
  • Master's degree in management or business administration (asset).
  • At least 5 years of management experience in an operating room or another healthcare department.
  • Practical experience in an operating room as a nurse and head nurse.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ).
  • Excellent command of French (oral and written) and intermediate level of English.
  • Proficiency in the Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
