Job Description:
Are you organized, detail-oriented, and ready to bring your legal expertise in house? Our client is searching for a dedicated Corporate Legal Advisor to join their team at their Montreal head office. In this role, you’ll be an essential part of helping them grow and thrive by supporting franchise compliance, legal documentation, and policy alignment across their brand. From preparing Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) to reviewing franchise agreements, trademarks, and advertising compliance, you’ll play a key role in keeping their legal operations smooth, effective, and ready to support expansion.
What You'll Do:
- Document Preparation: Draft and review franchise agreements, leases, subleases, FDDs, and other essential contracts to keep the brand protected and running smoothly.
- Trademark and IP Support: Conduct initial reviews on trademark matters and collaborate with IP counsel to safeguard the iconic brand.
- Compliance and Policy Review: Partner with the team to create and review policies that align with both legal requirements and company values.
- Advertising Compliance: Ensure advertising and marketing efforts are legally sound and reflect the joy and quality they deliver.
- Contract Management: Oversee contracts, agreements, and vendor relationships, keeping everything organized and accessible.
- Strategy Support: Work with the legal team to analyze business and legal strategies, contributing insights that align with the brand vision.
- Document Management: Maintain and organize filings to ensure seamless access for the legal team.
- Collaborative Support: Liaise with departments like Operations, Finance, and Marketing to ensure legal needs are aligned and compliance-ready.
Who You Are:
- Education & Experience: You hold a law degree or paralegal certification and have at least 5 years of experience in corporate or franchise law. Membership of a Canadian Bar Association is an asset but not required.
- Skilled Communicator: Your communication skills make you a trusted partner, whether drafting documents or working with other teams.
- Legal Proficiency: You’re familiar with franchise, contract, intellectual property, and general corporate law, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Familiarity with legal case management tools and contract systems is advantageous.
- Previous experience in trademark and intellectual property is a bonus.
- Organized & Independent: Balancing priorities comes naturally to you, and you work with integrity, handling confidential information with care.
- Language: Must be fluent in both French and English, as they work with franchisees across Canada.
