CIVIL ENGINEER (CPI) - ASSISTANT IN MUNICIPAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT

As a CPI, your primary mandate will be to support and assist the company's directors in carrying out their projects. Your role will primarily consist of managing, monitoring, and coordinating the various stages of projects carried out in Greater Montreal, from start to completion, whether for municipal projects, consulting engineering, developers, or contractors. Your level of responsibility within each project may vary depending on your skills and experience.

Job Description

  • Assist the Project Director in the management and coordination stages of assigned projects, whether in design (concept, estimate, preliminary emissions, for tender and for construction) or in execution (daily reports, quantity tracking, breakdowns and payment recommendations, guarantees, completion of work, etc.);
  • Assist the project manager in drafting various documents: letters, change directives and change orders, agendas, reports, release of holdbacks, work acceptance certificates, etc.;
  • Be versatile in the roles required to perform project management tasks, as either a municipal employee, consulting engineering, developer, or contractor;
  • Assist the project manager in approving technical data sheets and shop drawings;
  • Monitor and update registers (QRT, memos, shop drawings) and other administrative documents for assigned projects;
  • Monitor schedules and deliverables in collaboration with the project manager;
  • Conduct site visits, depending on the project, to ensure compliance with contractual conditions;
  • Ensure communication and coordination with stakeholders involved in the project (organization, city, developer, contractor, engineering firm, laboratory, etc.);
  • Participate in drafting service offers and/or calls for tenders;
  • Participate in managing the company's business planning.

Task Breakdown

  • Support for cities and municipalities for municipal projects: 40%;
  • Support for "Developer" projects: 40%;
  • Project management/oversight for consulting engineering firms: 10%;
  • Project management directly for contractors: 10%.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (CPI or 2-year engineer);
  • Two (2) years of experience in the field of municipal (road) and road infrastructure;
  • Knowledge of consulting engineering (an asset);
  • Knowledge of sewer and waterworks standards (an asset);
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite;
  • Fluency in French (oral and written);
  • Positive attitude and good team spirit;
  • Valid ASP construction card - General health and safety on construction sites Construction;
  • Own a car and a valid driver's license.
