Quebec Region (industrial manufacturing environment)

About the Position

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an engineering team directly connected to the factory.
The role combines mechanical design, production support, continuous improvement, and problem-solving on the ground in a context of manufacturing high-capacity industrial equipment and accessories.

This is a position for someone who enjoys seeing their designs manufactured, used, and improved.

  • Reduce lead times and improve production quality through design and method improvements

  • Actively participate in developing a strong, results-oriented technical team

Main Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Design and model mechanical assemblies in 3D (welded structures, assemblies, components).

  • Develop solutions for heavy handling equipment and accessories.

  • Perform and validate calculations: loads, material strength, stiffness, stability, safety factors.

  • Integrate hydraulic systems and ensure their proper functioning (sizing, component selection, control logic).

Industrialization & Production Launch

  • Produce complete drawings: tolerances, welding symbols, treatments, instructions.

  • Define bill of materials (BOM), purchased parts, and subassemblies.

  • Collaborate with the factory to improve manufacturability, quality, and production methods.

Technical / Field Support

  • Act as a technical reference point for production and after-sales service.

  • Diagnose and correct product-related issues (breakdowns, non-conformities, modifications).

  • Participate in inspections and root cause analyses.

Certification & Compliance

  • Prepare and validate the technical documentation required for equipment approvals and certifications.

  • Ensure traceability and document management (plans, revisions, reports).

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in optimization projects: cost reduction, robustness improvement, ergonomics, maintenance, and lead times.

  • Propose innovative ideas to standardize processes and improve overall performance.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

  • Member of the OIQ (or eligible in the short term).

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design in a manufacturing environment (steel or welded structures).

  • Proficiency in CAD software (ideally SolidWorks).

  • Practical and collaborative mindset, comfortable on the production floor.

  • Functional English.

Important Assets

  • Experience in steel manufacturing / welded structures.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics and integration of mechanical systems.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes: welding, machining, assembly.

  • Technical rigor and product safety awareness.
