Job Summary

Our client, a well-established general contractor in civil engineering, is looking for someone to take charge of projects mainly related to sewers, aqueducts, and infrastructure. The mandates are mostly public, with some private projects as well.

The role combines project management, collaboration with job site teams, and participation in bids, particularly during the winter. The scope of the projects and your autonomy will be adapted to your experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Take charge of civil engineering projects, from planning to execution monitoring.
  
• Analyze plans, specifications, and contractual documents to identify technical requirements and risks.
  
• Plan the work, resources, site needs, and interventions of suppliers and subcontractors.
  
• Monitor the progress, costs, and technical and administrative issues of your projects.
  
• Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, and office and site teams.
  
• Visit job sites, generally one to two days per week depending on the projects; some assignments may require an overnight stay.
  
• Contribute to estimation and bids, especially during the winter period or according to project load.
  

Depending on your experience and interests, you could manage a large project or several smaller projects.

Desired Profile

• Relevant training in civil engineering and status as a member of the OIQ or a pathway to become a CPI, then eventually sign professional documents.
  
• Ideally two to five years of experience in civil engineering, excavation, sewers, aqueducts, or comparable work. A more junior profile with solid internships and good potential will also be considered.
  
• Valid driver's license and availability to travel to job sites.
  
• Experience in project management and an interest in estimation are assets.
  
• Good mastery of Excel is useful for project tracking. No specific level of English is required.
  

What We Are Looking For

You know how to keep track of your projects, anticipate issues, and communicate clearly with the people executing the work. You are comfortable asking for advice when necessary, moving decisions forward, and reporting on what is happening on the ground.

You do not need to master everything from day one. Our client is mainly looking for a rigorous, collaborative person ready to develop their autonomy with the team.

Work Environment

You will work with a project and estimation team, in direct connection with the job site teams. Integration is mainly done in person. Subsequently, remote work can be discussed with the manager depending on your autonomy and the needs of the projects; this is not a fully remote position.

The schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility when responsibilities are covered. The position is compensated on an annual basis. Overtime is infrequent according to the client, and if it occurs, an agreement can be discussed with the director.
