Manager – Chemical Laboratory & Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Job Description
A company operating in the aerospace sector (confidential name) is looking for a manager of the chemical laboratory and non-destructive testing (NDT), with a specialization in fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI). This strategic role aims to oversee the operations of the laboratory and the NDT unit in compliance with NADCAP, AS9100 requirements, customer specifications, and aerospace industry standards.
The successful candidate will lead a team of certified technicians and inspectors while ensuring the maintenance of technical excellence, audit quality, and regulatory compliance.
Main Responsibilities
Chemical Laboratory:
Manage chemical processing activities: anodizing, passivation, etching, etc.
Ensure compliance with internal standards, environmental regulations, and customer requirements.
Maintain documentation, traceability, and NADCAP audits (preparation, gap analysis, corrective follow-up).
Supervise the team of technicians and ensure laboratory performance and equipment calibration.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT – FPI):
Supervise fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) operations in accordance with aerospace standards.
Manage maintenance, calibration, and proper functioning of FPI lines.
Draft and keep inspection procedures and training documents up to date.
Train, supervise, and support NDT Level I and II inspectors; assist Level III functions.
Lead NADCAP NDT audits (preparation, documentation, compliance, corrective actions).
Desired Profile
8 to 10 years of experience in chemical processing and/or non-destructive testing in an aerospace environment.
3 to 5 years of management experience in an AS9100/NADCAP accredited company.
Proven experience in leading and succeeding in NADCAP audits (FPI and chemical treatments).
Good knowledge of customer requirements (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, etc.).
Mastery of internal audits, CAPA, root cause analysis tools.
Strong understanding of quality systems (AS9100, ISO 17025).

Certifications and Assets
NDT Level III in FPI (strong asset) or Level II with ambition to reach Level III

ISO 17025 training (an asset)
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt – an asset)
Education
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, or related field
