We are currently looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to support the activities of a plant located in Sainte-Aurélie.

Job summary

Reporting to the operations management, the Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for supervising mechanical maintenance activities and supporting the technical team.

The selected candidate will play a central role in planning work, resolving mechanical issues, improving equipment reliability, and developing team members.

Main responsibilities

  • Supervise, mobilize, and support maintenance employees.

  • Demonstrate mobilizing leadership and promote collaboration between teams.

  • Provide technical assistance during mechanical system failures.

  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure follow-up on regular, preventive, and corrective maintenance.

  • Establish priorities and assign tasks to maintenance employees.

  • Perform daily follow-up on work orders and the preventive maintenance program.

  • Verify the quality and compliance of completed work.

  • Analyze breakdowns and failures to determine their causes.

  • Implement solutions aimed at improving equipment reliability and availability.

  • Ensure coordination between maintenance activities and sawing and planing operations.

  • Develop action plans with the relevant teams during major issues.

  • Participate in the integration and training of new employees.

  • Ensure the smooth running of training programs.

  • Collaborate with human resources in evaluating the performance of new employees.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules at work.

  • Enforce the company's policies and procedures.

Desired profile

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent training.

  • A relevant combination of training and experience may also be considered.

  • Experience in supervising or coordinating a work team.

  • Good knowledge of industrial mechanics and production equipment maintenance.

  • Ability to analyze technical problems and establish priorities.

  • Leadership, autonomy, and decision-making skills.

  • Good communication and mobilization skills.

  • Organizational skills and ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Functional to intermediate level spoken and written French.

Assets

  • Experience in a sawmill, planing mill, or wood industry.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.

  • Experience with a maintenance management system.

  • Training or experience in occupational health and safety.
