POSITION: REGIONAL TRAINING COUNSELLOR

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.
FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Teacher Training Department, the Regional Training Counsellor:
- Travels regularly to schools in order to assist the in-service training of Inuit teachers enrolled in the Kativik/McGill/UQAT programs; also there as support for Teacher Trainees throughout their training.
- Participates in the development and delivery of training courses and workshops offered through Teacher Training;
- Evaluates and assesses teachers as warranted by their program of study; assists in the evaluation of Teacher Trainees alongside the master teacher.
- Participates in the development of Inuktitut content of Training courses; Assists in the planning and delivery of all courses under the Teacher Training program.
- Develops, evaluates and revises Inuktitut programs and materials in Curriculum Development for program courses in consultation with instructors and consultants;
- Keeps informed of other Kativik projects related to Educational programs;
- In collaboration with principals, coordinate the work of local Teacher Training counselors
- Advise on staffing of the Inuit sectors in all schools, especially at the time of school organization
- Any other relevant duties as requested by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification in education/Bachelor Degree in a relevant field of specialization such as Education or Psychology or a graduate of the Kativik Teacher Training Program.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in spoken and written Inuktitut;
- Able to communicate in English or French;
- Experience in support staff and teachers in Nunavik;
- Experience in assisting with instruction of courses;
- Thorough knowledge of Inuktitut programs;
- Available to travel frequently in Nunavik.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 TO $87,626 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
