POSITION: ADMINISTRATION TECHNICIAN - DISABILITY CASES (2 POSITIONS)

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.
FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Reporting to the Coordinator of Labour Relations, the Administration Technician is responsible for various tasks related to the administration of disability / CNESST, parental leave and preventive withdrawal, work accident and labour relations files for all personnel.
The Administration Technician will have the following responsibilities:
- Draft various letters for employees (requests for expert assessment, requests for medical files from clinics, denial of disability claims, etc.);
- Send disability forms to employees upon receipt of medical certificates that are non-compliant with the collective agreements and follow up with school administrators;
- Request and follow up on the receipt of medical documents with the Module du Nord québécois et Ullivik as needed;
- Notify Payroll of absences and follow up on absences (verification of payroll reports and transmission of e-mail authorizations);
- Answer questions from employees on disability with respect to their pay;
- Keep a table of absences;
- Plan and organize the required activities within the deadlines stipulated – requests for medical assessment, revision or CNESST challenges;
- Maintain communications with CNESST and employees in the processing of files;
- Manage the processes of temporary assignment and gradual return to work;
- Manage communications with CNESST, notices of payment to be copied to files and added to list for Finance;
- Prepare calculations of CNESST benefits;
- Inform employees regarding provisions governing paternity, maternity and adoption leave, as well as extensions as permitted under their respective collective agreements;
- Open new CNESST files for preventive withdrawal and advise employees of terms involved;
- Approve disability periods on certain files (fractures, cancer, surgery, etc.);
- Create paper files for absences and file medical and CNESST documents.
- Follow up with personnel on preventive leave, notifying Payroll and the appropriate superior immediately.
- Transmit long-term absence files to Beneva;
- Draft letters to employees regarding the application of collective agreements and following the recommendations of labour relations Coordinators.
- Coordinate the recovery of overpayments of salary.
- Inform, assist and support by telephone, online or on-site in Nunavik, education administrators and school secretaries with respect to any tasks related to the management of disability claims and labour relations.
- Perform, as needed, any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma of collegial Studies (DEC) in Human Resources or diploma or equivalent studies recognized by the School Board.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in human resources.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluent in at least two (2) of the School Board’s working languages (Inuktitut, English and French);
- Demonstrated writing and analytical skills in at least two of the School Board’s working languages;
- Experience in education, disability case management and knowledge of collective agreements and the GRICS payroll system are assets;
- Autonomous, well organized, motivated and performs well under pressure;
- Knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel;
- Available to travel to Nunavik 1 to 2 weeks per school year.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the AENQ collective agreement for support staff, this position belongs to job category 4211: from $24.21 to $32.32 an hour depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
