Configuration Management Specialist

Kontron Canada is looking for a Configuration Management Specialist. As part of the change management process and introduction of new avionics products, you will monitor the requirements and tasks to be accomplished in the different teams. You will also coordinate all activities and deliverables of the various stakeholders to ensure efficient production and document all changes related to new products in development and to released products.

 

Kontron's embedded computing systems interact with a wide variety of devices in rugged environments such as avionics, transportation, defense, and telecommunications.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHALLENGES AHEAD:

 

Job Purpose

  • As part of the Change Management and New Product Introduction (NPI) process, perform the following activities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Mass Production, Validation, and Certification Tests: Ensure that all products undergo thorough testing before any modifications are approved, confirming their suitability for mass production and adherence to required standards;
  • Product Integrity and Compliance: Maintain the integrity of products throughout their lifecycle, ensuring they remain compliant with all relevant regulations and standards;
  • Record Keeping: Keep comprehensive records of all product configurations, alterations, and version histories, ensuring meticulous traceability and quality control;
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with hardware or software configuration changes, assessing their potential impact;
  • Addressing Compatibility and Service Disruptions: Actively prevent compatibility issues and service disruptions that might result from changes in product configuration;
  • Collaboration and Oversight of Product Modifications: Work closely with product line managers and the sustaining engineering team to oversee product modifications throughout their lifecycle;
  • End-of-Life (EOL) and Availability Management: Optimize the management of product components' end-of-life and availability, effectively planning their phased withdrawal;
  • Adapting to Technology Trends and Market Needs: Adjust strategies to align with evolving technology trends and meet the changing needs of the market;
  • Management of Bill of Material (BOM): Accurately manage the BOM and various hardware components within embedded systems, ensuring their relevance and up-to-dateness;
  • Overseeing BOM and Hardware Configuration Changes: Actively monitor and manage changes to the BOM and hardware configuration throughout the product lifecycle;
  • Documentation and Control of Software/Firmware: Rigorously document and control the software and firmware components included in embedded systems;
  • Software and Firmware Version Control: Handle version control for software and firmware, including the implementation of updates and patches;
  • Release and Maintenance of Work and Assembly Instructions: Be responsible for releasing and updating product work and assembly instructions, ensuring their clarity and accessibility;
  • Any other related tasks.

 

YOU WILL IMPRESS US IF YOU HAVE:

  • Education: Degree in engineering, electronics, or a related field;
  • Specialization: Electronics;
  • Experience: 5 years in the electronics field including 3 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Profile:
    • Excellent management capacity and flexibility;
    • Excellent sense of responsibility, initiative and autonomy;
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with various technical teams.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Knowledge: ERP and MRP systems, assembly manufacturing process, New Product Introduction process, electronic and mechanical components, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.);
  • Assets: Knowledge of the SAP management system (ERP), Knowledge in certification testing of products related to regulatory requirements of various supported markets, such as avionics, medical, automotive, and telecommunications;
  • Languages: French and English (written and spoken). Functional English is required due to various multidisciplinary tasks including notably communications and technical documents with international suppliers as well as sister companies in the Kontron group.
