Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

Kontron Canada is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to act as the point of contact between designers and production.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHALLENGES AHEAD:

 

  • Design and Prototyping: Actively participate in all design stages of chassis, mechanical components, and electronic boards to ensure optimal manufacturing;
  • Strategies and Processes: Evaluate the feasibility of new designs in terms of cost, production time, and complexity;
  • Lead Manufacturing Reviews: Maintain the design guide (DFM/A) and define the sequence of production activities with standard assembly times;
  • Coordination: Act as a liaison between designers and production for manufacturing aspects and coordinate the development and qualification of product packaging;
  • Support and Product Introduction: Actively participate in the introduction and qualification activities of new products during their transfer to manufacturing subcontractors. Provide technical support to internal and external production, with occasional travel;
  • Continuous Improvement: Work on reducing production costs while improving quality. Collaborate with operations and quality departments to evaluate and qualify new manufacturing sites and suppliers and track their continuous performance improvement;
  • Innovation and Maintenance: Evaluate, recommend and implement new equipment, assembly methods and technologies. Oversee preventive maintenance activities of production equipment and review the layout of the production floor if necessary;
  • Training and Collaboration: Manage the training and qualification of employees for new processes and equipment.

 

YOU WILL IMPRESS US IF YOU HAVE:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, or DEC;
  • Experience: Ideally a minimum of 5 years in new product introduction and support;
  • Knowledge: Manufacturing processes, industrialization concepts, and DFM/A for electronic products and CAD file reading tools;
  • Assets: Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes for mechanical parts, experience in problem-solving with suppliers of mechanical components, cables, and printed circuit boards, proficiency in statistical process control methods;
  • Profile: Excellent communication, analysis, writing, organization, and planning skills; ability to solve technical problems;
  • Languages: Proficiency in French and functional English for communication and audits with international suppliers, as well as communication with worldwide sister companies.
