Tasks
- Adjust their designs to conform to limiting factors such as budget allocation and cost of materials
- Award construction contracts to building contractors
- Consult with clients to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered
- Generate building plans and detailed drawings to be used by contractors and tradespersons
- Manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects
- Negotiate contracts with clients with a focus on design, construction time, price or others
- Participate in contract negotiations
- Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction
- Project management
- Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespersons
- Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules
- Construction site supervision
- Prepare sketches and models
- Conduct feasibility studies of building projects
- Supervision of technologists, technicians and other architects
