The Senior Underwriter will assist the Senior Manager in the risk management of the financing portfolio. Within the Commercial Banking Group, the candidate will be required to assimilate the knowledge necessary to understand, prepare and write commercial credit files.

With input into business model analysis, financial analysis, risk analysis and collateral evaluation. The Senior Underwriter will act as a key resource to the Account Manager, Business Development and the Assistant Vice President.

Responsibilities
As a member of the Business Services team, the incumbent will be asked to assimilate the knowledge required for understanding, preparing and drafting commercial credit files. He/she will assist the Senior Manager in managing finance portfolio risk.

By participating in business model analysis, financial analysis, risk analysis and guarantee assessments, the incumbent will serve as a key resource for the Account Manager, Business Development, and his/her Assistant Vice President.

The senior underwriter, will have to complete the following tasks:

  • Complete the underwriting of new transactions and conduct annual reviews of files and amendments within the prescribed deadlines
  • Enter the client's financial statements and financial projections in the risk rating calculator
  • Perform financial analyses based on financial statements and financial projections, perform sensitivity analyses and make comparisons with industry standards for this business segment
  • Identify and analyze risks associated to client activities
  • Follow up on irregularities in client portfolios
  • Follow up on the implementation of securities in accordance with credit authorization conditions
  • Participate in meetings or conference calls with clients
  • Be involved in the integrity and compliance processes (Code of Conduct, internal policies)
  • Perform the work according to the practices, policies and specific goals, while complying with current legislation and the Bank's policies, programs and processes

 

Qualifications

  • University education in a relevant field and at least three to five years of experience
  • Superior writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Positive attitude
  • Proven intellectual curiosity and critical-thinking skills
  • Keen interest for finance and good analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the Office Suite of applications
  • Required Qualification - Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages
