This role sits within LBC Capital, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.
The incumbent is responsible for daily, weekly and monthly assigned work in the Portfolio Accounting team for LBC Capital and in a hybrid scenario, also available to assist the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team on ad-hoc requests and/or special projects and initiatives. The incumbent also has strong knowledge of banking / leasing software and Microsoft application skills and can work in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Daily tasks will include balancing our leasing system’s journal entries to the general ledger, managing floating rate indices inside our leasing system and entries to consolidate daily cash.
- Weekly tasks will include foreign exchange clearing entries, approving EDI’s, wire transfers and cash transfers and entering payables into our A/P system
- Month-End will include (but not limited to) the calculation and distribution of renewal income with specific vendor relationships, support for the Sales Assistance Fees processes and the operating expense accruals for the month/quarter.
- As capacity allows, work with the FP&A team to enhance the segmented P&L process within LBC Capital and any data analysis to support / improve current processes.
- Be self motivated continue to look for ways to automate / streamline processes to gain operational efficiencies.
- Think creatively, provide insights, and consider ways to improve and automate processes to gain operational efficiencies.
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial scenarios for new growth opportunities and pricing.
- Assist with projects and presentations as needed.
- Preparation of ad hoc analysis as required.
- Enhance financial acumen throughout the organization
- Verification of own work and the work of fellow peers for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and ensures compliance with internal and external audit and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- University degree in a related field and 2 to 5 years of experience
- CPA, CFA or Finance major post secondary is an asset;
- Knowledge of banking and leasing.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office including Access, advanced Excel and Power Point required
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
- Able to work in a high volume environment with time sensitive deadlines
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Highly motivated with a desire to succeed and progress
- Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team
- Bilingual* (French/English) verbal and written communication skills is an asset.
*Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
