The City of Laval is looking for its next technical expert to play a central role in the valorization of its data. If you are a builder who loves organizing data above all, this position is for you.

You are responsible for overseeing activities and implementing data governance and management strategies within the organization.

You play a key role in defining data policies and standards, as well as in designing innovative data solutions to meet the needs of the City. You are responsible for operationalizing data security by ensuring compliance with rules and implementing technological tools to support them while respecting cybersecurity frameworks.

In this capacity, you work closely with all departments and offices of the City to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices, continuously generating more value while optimizing the quality and integrity of the organization’s data.

The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics and computer science, software engineering, or any other relevant field;
  • Have eight (8) years of relevant experience in the role, primarily in business intelligence, analytics, governance, data management, and operations;
  • Excellent mastery of dimensional data modeling and SQL language;
  • Strong experience in designing and orchestrating data preparation and transformation processes (ETL / ELT);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric (or an equivalent such as Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) for data preparation, transformation, and storage according to a modern architecture model such as "medallion";
  • Proficiency in Power BI, primarily for modeling and creating reusable semantic layers, not for creating complex reports;
  • Proficiency in Python in a data manipulation and engineering context.
  • Strong ability to solve complex problems and structured critical thinking;
  • Expertise in advanced analytical modeling to support decision-making;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
