The challenges that await you

Reporting to the Service Director, you will be responsible for monitoring construction sites and the transfer (handover of keys) related to projects managed by the Project Planning and Implementation Service. You will apply the strategies and approaches recommended by the Service regarding proactivity and planning. In this capacity, you will plan the allocation and occupation of resources while ensuring vigilance at specific milestones to optimize response time and invested time. You will rigorously track the time invested by collaborators under your supervision in accordance with the established budget planning and ensure that they perform clearly defined tasks related to the mission of the Service mandated by the Service. You will ensure compliance with practices that support the monitoring of the City’s governance framework and regularly inform the Service management of any potential deviations.

With the team under your responsibility, you will ensure oversight of the construction operations of the projects and maintain fluid communication and activity tracking with the project manager and assigned division head. You will need to ensure a smooth operational transition to other municipal services to transfer the work under the best reception conditions.

You will need to ensure, through planned audits coordinated with the SPRP team, that the actions of the suppliers involved in the construction (contractor and professionals) align with the agreed timelines and the compliance of the work with the established plans and specifications. You will ensure vigilance and report any deviation that could affect the progress of the project or its final outcome. Your mission will also include supporting change management on the site, including the necessary negotiations, while ensuring that the work is completed within the allotted time and according to the required quality standards.

You will also need to ensure the connection between the inherent needs of the City, both in terms of performance and technical requirements, as well as operationally to ensure their integration within the Contracts, ensuring that the requirements are indeed integrated within the projects in progress.

You will maintain business relationships and collaborations with various stakeholders and the Service management and assist them in all stages of a project: planning, design, construction, and pre-operational. You will ensure, at all stages of the projects, the assessment of risks related to construction to mitigate them as much as possible through prudent constructive choices.

You will need to evaluate the performance of contractors on site, document the progress of the work, analyze the costs of changes, and intervene with any collaborator proactively when you identify a potential issue. You will develop and implement measures and working methods likely to improve performance and work safety, management tools, production indicators, and data and information compilation.

The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a field related to building construction;
  • Have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience on building sites with a value scale of at least $10M, including at least one project with a minimum value scale of $50M as a project manager or superintendent;
  • The manager, primarily working in a multidisciplinary environment, must express themselves clearly and judiciously both orally and in writing, and demonstrate leadership and autonomy characterized by:
    • A sense of politics;
    • The ability to influence;
    • Negotiation skills.
