The challenges that await you

The Project Planning and Implementation Service is responsible for establishing strategies that allow the City of Laval to optimize its infrastructure investments and carry out design and construction work. The Service is currently seeking a project manager for major projects to lead a significant industrial project, essential for the territorial development of the City.

Reporting to the division head, you will be responsible for the implementation of the major projects under your responsibility led by the Service. More specifically, you will be tasked with planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all phases of project management for which you will be responsible, in accordance with the governance framework for projects and programs of the City of Laval. You will be responsible for ensuring collaboration among all stakeholders, monitoring risk management and results while continuously acting to maximize efficiency in terms of costs, timelines, scope, and quality of work.

The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or the Ordre des architectes du Québec;
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction field, including 5 years in managing major projects corresponding to the following specifications:
    • Having significantly participated in a project of $50M in present value scale;
    • Having served as project manager for several phases, including planning, of a major or highly complex project;
    • Having closely collaborated on the startup of a project (needs assessment, preliminary schedule, transfer and management of professional service contracts, etc.);
  • Experience in the industrial or civil field is an asset;
  • Have a good knowledge and have significantly participated in a project in an alternative mode, an asset;
  • Experience in an operated environment or operational context is an asset;
  • Master the tools of the MS Office suite, including Microsoft Project;
  • Master project management: planning, organization, control, budget and schedule tracking, and prioritization;
  • Depth of analysis, rigor, and quality of judgment.
