The challenges that await you

Under the authority of the Head of the Land Use Planning Division, you will advise the management of the Service on urban planning, land use planning, the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, programs, regulations, procedures, and any other subject within your area of expertise. Additionally, you will participate in the management of programs, protocols, mandates, and projects and ensure their implementation as needed.

More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Design, develop, and propose to your superior land use plans, policy projects, programs, and procedures related to your area of expertise and ensure compliance once approved by the Service Director;
  • Conduct comprehensive planning studies and land use planning;
  • Analyze various requests related to the application of urban planning regulations (zoning, construction, subdivision, etc.), submit recommendations to your superior, and prepare reports and communications;
  • Analyze draft laws, regulations, and government policies governing land use planning, assess their impact on the City, and submit appropriate recommendations;
  • Design, develop, and submit to your superior draft regulations required to achieve municipal objectives in land use planning;
  • Meet and inform citizens and organizations or others on any subject relevant to your area of expertise;
  • Prepare and present related reports for municipal committees governed by provincial laws and municipal regulations and act as secretary while ensuring follow-up on the minutes of these committees;
  • Participate in meetings, discussions, or gatherings with employees from other divisions or services of the City and/or representatives of external organizations, the executive committee, city management to examine issues relevant to your area of expertise.

The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in urban planning and a master's degree in a related field or a master's degree in urban planning combined with a bachelor's degree in a related field;
  • Have four (4) years of experience in land use planning (land use and development schemes, regional files, specific urban planning programs, etc.);
  • Have expertise in transportation and mobility or in planning and regulation in agricultural zones, an asset;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec.
