Our client is a manufacturer and value-added distributor of industrial cutting equipment and has offices in both Canada and the United States.
The role
Under the supervision of the president and CEO this role will be responsible of managing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and strategic financial planning to support the company’s growth and operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards
- Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the audit process
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and develop financial forecasts
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecasts
- Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions as needed
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Design and implement robust internal control systems
Strategic Financial Planning:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning
- Evaluate investment opportunities and conduct financial due diligence
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Keep the team updated on the latest accounting standards and best practices
Operational Efficiency:
- Streamline financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems
- Manage cash flow and ensure optimal liquidity
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
- Relevant experience in the manufacturing industry
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Experience with multi-company and intercompany
- Excellent knowledge of Ms Office Suite (Advanced Excel and Business Intelligence tools)
- Excellent technical knowledge of accounting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving
- Attention to detail and accuracy
