Accountant? ¿Contable? Want to make a positive difference in the world with your professional skills? As a member of the International Financial Management Division's Finance and Administration (FAD) team, the jobholder manages and develops the financial aspects of the projects and programs for which he/she is responsible and provides advisory support to field accountants and other program managers.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and implementation, in accordance with management's strategy and annual planning, of the annual work plan which establishes action priorities, measurable objectives, deadlines and a realistic budget plan for projects and programs;
- Produce financial analysis and monitor project initiatives;
- Identify financial opportunities and risks for projects and programs;
- Participate in the preparation of expenditure and cash budgets for projects under his/her responsibility, in compliance with agreements signed with funding agencies;
- Validate financial reports produced by on-site teams and ensure their conformity;
- Produce financial reports for donors and requests for transfer of funds;
- Carry out sampling tests; ensure compliance with local requirements; assist the on-site team during audits carried out by donors or other stakeholders;
- Prepare quarterly internal variance analysis reports versus budget, update projections, and reconcile donor advances;
- Advise immediate supervisor and project managers of potential financial impacts and risks associated with unexpected decisions or events, and make recommendations to ensure compliance;
- Ensure adequacy between resource allocation, expenditures, activities and outputs achieved;
- Any related tasks.
The ideal skills
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business administration (professional accounting concentration);
- Possess the accounting designation of CPA or equivalent (foreign diploma);
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, including proven work experience in accounting and budget analysis;
- Knowledge of Power-Query / Pivot / BI, Accpac / SAGE 300 (an asset);
- Fluency in spoken and written French and Spanish (mandatory);
- Fluency in English, spoken and written (an asset)
- Experience in developing program and project proposals;
- Experience working with different funders (an asset);
- Knowledge of NPOs (volunteer cooperation and international programs) is a strong asset;
- Sense of organization and priorities, rigor and attention to detail;
- Alertness, flexibility, resourcefulness and creativity;
- Team spirit!
Position-specific conditions
- Availability to work outside regular hours during financial closings;
- Availability to travel in Canada or abroad for follow-up missions (1 x per year, maximum 3 times/year).
