Human Resources Technician

The HR Technician will manage comprehensive HR functions, including recruitment processes, payroll administration, employee wellbeing, employees training and safety, and employee engagement activities. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing our HR systems and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Support a strong health and safety culture through active participation in the OHS committee and participate in the implementation of appropriate action plans and policies.
  • Manage payroll processing, track employee hours and maintain confidential employee files.
  • Support HR management in the management of disciplinary files, complaints or litigation, notably by preparing the required administrative documents.
  • Review job applications, conduct telephone screening and schedule interviews; coordinate administrative formalities for new hires and orientations.
  • Write, edit and distribute internal and external communications related to human resources (e.g. memos, appointment announcements, internal policy communications, etc.).
  • Monitor and update internal policies and procedures in collaboration with Human Resources management.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in organizing recognition and mobilization events for the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR laws and regulations.
  • Provide high quality customer service to employees, candidates and suppliers/consultants.
  • Manage work permits for foreign workers.
  • Participate in the management of employee training.
  • Any other related tasks. 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in human resources, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of HR-related laws and regulations applicable in Ontario.
