Supply agent and food self-sufficiency educator

Our client, Le Blé d'Or Community Kitchen in Sherbrooke, is a dynamic community organization whose mission is to promote food autonomy, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and mutual support within the community.

We are looking for a versatile, organized, and dynamic individual to fill a position combining the responsibilities of a Supply Agent and a Community Kitchen Educator.

NATURE OF WORK

Under the supervision of management, the incumbent will contribute to the smooth operation of the community kitchen by ensuring:

Component 1: Supply Agent

Managing inventories, food orders, and supplies necessary for the operation of the kitchens, regular activities, and special projects of the organization.

Component 2: Community Kitchen Educator

Leading, supporting, and supervising community kitchen groups according to the three areas of intervention of Blé d'Or: educational, economic, and social

Supplies, Inventories, and Logistics

  • Ensuring the availability of food, cleaning products, and supplies, whether purchased or donated.
  • Conducting regular inventories, preparing and processing orders.
  • Rotating food, ensuring the organization and cleanliness of storage areas.
  • Updating price lists, supplier lists, and lists of free items.
  • Maintaining required records, including refrigerator temperatures.
  • Participating in the management of produce from the community garden.
  • Running errands or Urgent purchases as needed.

Support for cooking activities and customer service

  • Support the food self-sufficiency educators during workshops.
  • Replace or support the educators as needed.
  • Answer the phone and greet members and visitors.
  • Perform certain administrative tasks related to inventories and payments.
  • Participate in various administrative tasks and the updating of procedures.

Facilitating cooking groups

  • Facilitate group cooking sessions of 5 to 8 people.
  • Assist members in choosing and preparing recipes.
  • Ensure a positive, motivating, and Respectful.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards as well as the regulations of Blé d’Or.
  • Compile statistics and write required reports.
  • Report and document incidents, if applicable.

Perform all other related tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of Blé d’Or.

  • Good time management and priorities.
  • Dynamic, versatile, and collaborative individual with strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and an interest in the community and food security.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Ability to travel to purchase large quantities of food.
  • Good physical condition; must be able to handle loads related to inventory management.
  • Tolerance to work in cold storage and freezers for periods of 15 minutes. 8 to 10 times per week, with maximum shifts of 3 hours twice a week.
  • Ability to maintain a sustained work pace during busy periods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and technological tools.

 Assets

  • MAPAQ and CPR certification.
  • Training or experience in group facilitation, community work, intervention, or cooking.
  • Experience in inventory or supply management.
