Payroll and Human Resources Technician (12-Month Replacement)
About the role
Do you enjoy balancing numbers with people? Are you known for your attention to detail as much as your customer-service mindset? We're looking for a Payroll and Human Resources Technician for a 12-month maternity leave replacement to join our HR team and play a key role in payroll accuracy and employee experience across Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you'll be the go-to person for all things payroll while actively contributing to staffing, onboarding, and company culture.
What you'll do
Payroll and benefits
- Produce payroll for all employee categories and make necessary corrections
- Process personnel movements (promotions, transfers, terminations, leaves)
- Follow up on work-related accident files, salary adjustments, and special payments
- Control mandatory and optional deductions (source deductions, insurances, garnishments, alimony etc.)
- Produce Records of Employment and support year-end tax processes (T4, R1)
- Administer employee benefits (insurance, ...)
- Respond to employee and manager questions about payroll and leave
Human resources
- Support the staffing process (resume screening, interview scheduling)
- Welcome new employees and maintain their files
- Coordinate training planning and organization
- Contribute to the health and safety program
- Participate in HR committees and cross-functional projects
Team spirit
- Organize social activities, birthday cards, service anniversaries, and event gifts (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day)
What we're looking for
- Education: DEC in administrative techniques, accounting, and management, or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in payroll and HR administration
- Knowledge: Quebec and Ontario labour and tax laws, year-end processes, CPA training an asset
- Tools: Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word); ADP Workforce Now experience a major asset
- Languages: Fluent in French and English, spoken and written (team based in Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S.)
