Accountant (temporary position 6 months)

Sierra Flower Trading is the largest importer and distributor of fresh cut flowers in Canada. We are currently looking to hire an intermediate Accountant to join our team. The key objective of this role is to provide direct support to the Controller in the preperation of financial reports and analyses that are pertinent to the company's management. This is a 6-month contract that could lead to a permanent position.

Accounts Payable (15%):

• Code, verify, and enter supplier invoices into Acomba
• Issue cheques and prepare electronic transfers according to required payment terms, then submits them for signature
• Send electronic payment details by email
• Review supplier statements and ensures all invoices have been received
• Prepare and make bank deposits and mail cheques
• Perform any other related tasks

 

Accounts Receivable (25%):

• Prepare and make bank deposits
• Enter customer payments into Acomba, verify coding, and communicates with the Sales team when issues arise.
• Creates new customer accounts in the system
• Processes credit card payments
• Reviews accounts based on payment terms and follow the collection procedure

 

Month-End (60%):

• Participates in the month-end closing process
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Prepares journal entries for accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Performs analysis and reconciliations of certain general ledger accounts
• Assist with physical inventory counts
• Prepare various reports
• Performs any other related tasks

 

Academic backround / Professional Experience

• Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent
• 7-10 years of experience in accounting with a good understanding of ASPE principles

• Strong Ability to meet deadlines and multitask as well as work in a fast paced environment
• Dynamic with proven analytical skills and good team spirit
• Detail oriented
• Bilingual (Written and oral)
• Excellent knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, etc)
• Knowledge of Acomba is a strong asset.
