Description

Reporting directly to the President and as a key member of the management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ensures that his or her team participates and supports the company’s major strategic and operational directions from a financial standpoint.

He or she will be primarily responsible for all strategic financial management reporting, raising financing to support the company’s growth-by-acquisition strategy, shareholder relations, risk management, treasury, and taxation.

Part of the role will also include involvement in various special projects, such as digital transformation projects, new system implementation, and other growth projects.

In line with the company’s culture of intrapreneurship, innovation, autonomy, and team spirit, the CFO’s will have a broader scope than usual, as the successful candidate will also likely be involved in external relations with lawyers, IT suppliers, and other professionals involved in the various projects.

 

Specifically, their responsibilities include:

Financial accounting management:

  • Participate in the development of the organization’s global strategies, integrating the financial reality.
  • Monitor the company’s financial performance and propose solutions to maintain and develop profitability.
  • Advise the executive management on tax and financial strategies.
  • Implement asset and intellectual property management and control mechanisms.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of budgeting and accounting systems, as well as the development of management reports.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s key operational drivers to guide executive decision-making.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and key performance indicators, analyze variances, and report to the executive team.
  • Contribute actively on the management of team meetings and monitor the application of the best practices in accounting and finance
  • Manage cash flow to ensure that the company meets its financial obligations.
  • Monitor the company’s cash flow and ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Participate in the coordination of external audits and supervise the implementation of recommendations.

Growth & Acquisitions:

  • Manage all financing and investment projects while developing and maintaining excellent business relationships with investors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.
  • Advise, prospect, plan, and lead the business acquisition process in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Participate in the integration of acquisitions, including the review of current systems and processes, identification of gaps and issues, and actions to address them.

Human resources, legal affairs & administration:

  • Provide effective human resources management and active leadership to the teams under his/her responsibility (accounting and IT).
  • Supervise the accounting team in the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee the application of internal policies, legal aspects in collaboration with external lawyers, and human resources management procedures to optimize human capital.
  • Guide, mentor, and evaluate employees, and provide active leadership within the department.
  • Actively participate in the hiring process of new employees and talent identification.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience within the finance and accounting function
  • Experience in the distribution sector (an asset)
  • Experience with SMEs
  • Experience in ERP system implementation or migration
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team management

Competencies

  • Excellent business acumen in an international corporate environment
  • Demonstrated experience in treasury management, financial analysis, and planning
  • Bilingualism, both written and spoken
