Description

The Controller will manage all activities related to the accounting cycle, including the production of financial statements. The incumbent will ensure the application of internal controls, accounting rules, and the company’s various policies and procedures. The Controller will also be required to mobilize and guide the accounting team.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze the company’s monthly financial statements on time
  • Communicate and explain financial results to shareholders and managers
  • Produce and analyze work in progress in collaboration with project managers
  • Analyze financial information and make strategic recommendations to improve financial performance and internal controls
  • Support the company in optimizing performance indicators
  • Support team in project costing
  • Support team in inventory management
  • Actively participate in annual budgeting and quarterly projections
  • Produce year-end audit file for auditors
  • Participate in the company’s strategic projects and R&D
  • Follow market trends and company developments to ensure best accounting and business practices
  • Participate in grants, financing, and risk management

Human Resources management, including :

  • Provide direct management of the team under the incumbent’s responsibility
  • Participate in the hiring and termination process, in collaboration with Human Resources
  • Manage performance appraisals, vacations, salary reviews, and other required items

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • A recognized accounting title (CPA), an important asset

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience including 5 years in a similar position
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector
  • Experience in implementing an accounting system (an asset)

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting standards and the full accounting cycle
  • Mastery of the Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
