PERSONNEL OFFICER (1101)

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Person, who designs, analyses, assesses and applies professional techniques in the field of human resources, with a view to ensuring optimal performance.

 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • Advises and supports managers on the interpretation and application of collective agreements;
  • Participates in the entire investigation process: information gathering, information analysis and decision making;
  • Drafts disciplinary measures and ensures follow-up with managers;
  • Participates in conflict management and supports managers in their interventions;
  • Participates in labor relations committees and negotiates employer / union agreements, such as letters of agreement and grievance settlement;
  • Provides advice concerning the improvement of labour relations team activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, industrial relations, law or another university appropriate discipline;
  • Member of Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines du Québec – CRHA (CRI, IRC, CIRC, CHRP) or a Canadian Law Society is an asset.

 

Experience:

  • One (1) year of relevant experience in Labour Relations.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of MSSS legislation, regulations, the Ministry Network and programs, and current trends;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and teamwork skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and presentation;
  • Knowledge of First Nation health/social service models, trends and issues is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, planning and decision‑making skills;
  • Good computer skills in MS Word and PowerPoint.

 

LANGUAGE

  • Fluent in English and French;
  • Fluency in Cree is an asset.

 

OTHER

  • Available to travel on a regular basis;
  • Possibility to telework.
